BaltCityPrevention match making: The Healthy Kids of Seinäjoki model to travel the Baltic Sea Region

Wednesday, 28 March in Seinäjoki, Finland. The BaltCityPrevention project organized the first of six matchmaking events between health it companies (SME’s) and public health authorities (PHA´s) in the Baltic Sea Region.

BaltCityPrevention Project

In particular the Seinäjoki Obesity Programme which aims to reduce obesity and overweight among children and young people was discussed.  The goal is to promote healthy changes in the lifestyle of children and families with lifestyle guidance, nutrition and physical exercise. 

City of Seinäjoki wants to be an international development platform and a hub for new innovations and global solutions on holistic health and wellbeing of the citizens.

The Healthy Kids of Seinäjoki as a sellable product

The Healthy Kids of Seinäjoki Model offers a solution to end childhood obesity as proved locally and the concept has attracted international attention. The duplicable model can be transferred and adopted into environments challenged by increasing obesity. The model can be sold to governments, municipalities and the private sector.

The city owned development company and business centre, Into Seinäjoki has been productizing and conceptualizing the Seinäjoki Model into a sellable product.

Micro actions the core

The idea is to break down the Seinäjoki concept into simple and easy micro actions and transfer the Seinäjoki Model in a digital way.

After all, the Seinäjoki Model is based on small acts done systematically by many people at different levels. Precisely what the micro actions stand for. Simple and easy acts that can be done anywhere at any time. 

With enough repetition, micro actions can lead to behavioral change and learned behavioral pattern. The impact of micro-actions is huge, when done systematically and on a daily basis.

Mobile Application

Into Seinäjoki has developed a business idea on transferring a concept that stems from the Healthy Kids of Seinäjoki Model.  This will be done in the form of a Mobile Application, which offers an extremely scalable way to reach out to the decision makers, teachers, school nurses, parents and children.

The digital marketing channel will open up new business opportunities for companies in various sectors

BaltCityPrevention assists to identify partners

The BaltCityPrevention match making event identified several opportunities to promote continued dialogue with potential national and regional public and private partners for The Healthy Kids of Seinäjoki model.

As a concrete outcome The Healthy Kids of Seinäjoki will be presented and discussed at the 14th National Conference on Health Economy“#Health2018 – Brave New World?” in Rostock-Warnemünde 24th to 25th of May.

The BaltCityPrevention partner ScanBalt is organizing a plenary session and an exhibition integrated with the conference and The Healthy Kids of Seinäjoki will be presented at both.

Likewise, The Healthy Kids of Seinäjoki will be presenting at the session “Health IT SME development in the Baltic Sea Region” 27th of September at the ScanBalt Forum track at Life Sciences Baltics 2018.
